Hey visitor, allow me to introduce myself. My name is Thorsten, but I go by the name of “Thorin”. I was born a long time ago in Westfalen, but have lived all throughout Europe in my life, whereas I consider Ireland my true home. And I am petty sure, I will be back in the future, to settle as a pensioner. But that quite frankly is not going to happen for another 25 years. Only time will tell, when and how this is going to be. But it will.
Starting as a teenager, I had already been the first point of call when it was time to get that computer up and running like new. I also advised friends and family on new hardware decisions.
After completing a higher commercial school with a focus on business administration and marketing, as well as my military service, I didn’t really know what I should do for a living. I tried out various things and initially worked as a jobber.
As things got more serious with my relationship at the time I thought about my strengths in the computer area and therefore applied for a job at Apple in Cork, particularly due to the fact that I didn’t have a traditional apprenticeship. That is where I learned about support from the bottom up. After a while in consumer-level support, I joined the Enterprise team and finally ended up in business IT.
